Mardy Fish downed fellow giant-killer Feliciano Lopez in
straight sets 6-3 6-4 to ensure an all-American final at
the AEGON Championships at the Queen's Club. Fish
secured single breaks in each set as the American
produced a composed and confident display to beat the
eighth seed and reach the showpiece match on Sunday,
where he will meet compatriot Sam Querrey.
AEGON Championships Performance of the Day
Mardy Fish. Bearing the brunt of a lot of puns in
yesterday's papers, American Fish finished off Andy
Murray in a third set tie-break, 7-2, in the resumption
of their third round match. Dusting off his shoes and
changing his top, the American returned an hour and a
bit later to face Michael Llodra for a place in the last
four. Pulverising the Frenchman with his big serve, Fish
won his second match of the day 6-4, 6-4, and blasted
his way into the semi-finals. He then went back on court
for doubles.

(Queens Club) in London. The match had been
suspended on Thursday evening at 3-3 in the final set
due to darkness. After a succession of easily held
service games, a deciding tie-break was required in the
third set. Mardy quickly captured four match
points, converted the first and served out for the win.

Fish
Defeats Murray at Sony Ericsson Open
Mardy
Fish earned one of the biggest victories in his 10-year
career with a 6-4, 6-4 upset win over 2009 champion Andy
Murray in front of a packed crowd in the Sony Ericsson
Open. Murray, the Australian Open runner-up in January,
was seeded No. 3 at Key Biscayne but failed to survive
his opening match. Mardy Fish dethroned defending
champion Andy Murray in straight sets in the second
round.
Florida resident Fish took control by seizing the
opening set against the Briton and the writing was on
the wall for Murray when he surrendered his serve in the
first game of the second.
Fish sported a wide grin as he celebrated his victory by
pumping both fists close to his chest. He then signed
the courtside television camera 'Hi "My dad wasn't able
to be there today but my mum was," said the American.
"It's really nice to have them come down. "They don't
get to watch much," said Fish, who last beat a top-five
opponent when he knocked out Federer at Indian Wells in
2008.
Fish lost just six points on his first serve. He hit 28
winners to Murray's nine and frequently charged the net
behind returns. Fish's ranking will rise thanks to his
second career win over a player ranked in the top three.
He beat Federer at Indian Wells two years ago.

Bruce Jenkins INSIDE TENNIS:
Fish may have surpassed Roddick as America's best tennis player.
With the U.S. Open only a few weeks away, Mardy Fish might be
the best tennis player in America -- a pretty sweet notion if
you've been among his loyal fans all these years.

Tennis & Jake's Music Fest to Benefit the Mardy Fish
Foundation is a weekend event that features a Barbeque
Luncheon with silent and live auction, Concert with country
music star Jake Owen, Kids' Tennis Clinic and Tennis
Exhibition with Mardy Fish vs. James Blake followed by a
doubles match with current and/or former touring tennis
professionals.
The Mardy Fish
Foundation has
created Kids on
Courts, a "learn by
immersion", age and
skill-based tennis
development program
especially designed
for junior tennis
players. The program
teaches juniors
(ages 7-12) of all
abilities the skills
for playing
competitive tennis
matches. The Mardy
Fish Foundation is
excited to have Mike
Rahaley head Kids on
Courts as program
director.
Each junior will
play tennis matches
immediately on the
first day against
players of similar
skill levels. The
match results will
be recorded and will
determine the
schedule of matches
for the following
week. Every level of
player will be
challenged. As the
program develops,
players will be
placed on teams
which give juniors
the concept of team
participation along
with individual
rankings. What's
great about this is
that there is no
bench time! There
are only a few
sports that are life
long that can offer
these benefits.
The benefits for
junior players are
many. According to
Mike Rahaley, the
program "Teaches
kids to thrive
individually in a
match situation and
helps them build
confidence and a
positive
self-image."
Mardy Fish
Foundation Kids on
Courts gives juniors
a sport they can
play their whole
lives. They will
learn how to be
gracious when
learning (i.e.
losing) and when
they win. They will
develop skills to
compete and think on
the court. They will
forge new
friendships. Playing
tennis is great for
your health, too.
Most importantly,
they will have fun!
Kids on Courts
matches will played
on Sundays. Players
will have three
separate starting
times (2pm, 3pm, or
4pm) based on their
skill level. Kids on
Courts matches will
be held for five
weeks on the
following dates:
November 22, 29,
2009 and December 6,
13 and 20, 2009. The
initial five- week
session will cost
$50. Financial
scholarships are
available.
In addition, Kids on
Courts is looking
for parents who
would like to
volunteer to help
organize the weekly
matches. For more

MARDY'S TENNIS AND JAKE'S
MUSIC FEST 4TH ANNUAL EVENT RAISES THOUSANDS
12/17/2009 TCPalm
VERO BEACH —
Organizers of the Mardy’s Tennis &
Jake’s Music Fest were pleased with the
fourth annual event, which took place
over the weekend in Vero Beach.
Despite rain, the event went off without
a hitch and raised thousands of dollars
for the Mardy Fish Foundation that
benefits children’s organizations in
Indian River County.
A Kids’ Tennis Clinic kicked off the
weekend on Dec. 11 at Grand Harbor Golf
& Beach Club with approximately 100
children participating. The children in
attendance received instruction from 13
local tennis professionals as well as
touring tennis professionals Mardy Fish
and David Martin. That evening the Jake
Owen performed in concert with an
opening acoustic set by five of
Nashville’s top songwriters, Casey
Beathard, Kevin Denney, Jimmy Ritchey,
Kendall Marvel and Phillip White.
During the barbecue luncheon on
Saturday, a live and silent auction
featured original artwork, a trip to the
U.S. Open Quarterfinals and a trip to
Los Angeles featuring dinner at the most
popular restaurants, limousine service,
a tour of the Playboy Mansion and
lodging at the Four Seasons Beverly
Hills earning the highest auction bid of
$6,250. Guests also enjoyed a
presentation that included a question
and answer session with students who
participate in the Pelican Island
Elementary School/Mardy Fish Music Club
and Health & Fitness Club.
The rain-delayed Tennis Exhibition
featured a pro-set singles match between
Fish and James Blake, which Blake won
8-6. Following singles, Fish and David
Martin won a 6-4 doubles match against
Thomas Blake and Jesse Levine.
Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to
Benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation
continues to increase awareness and
raise revenues for the Foundation’s
mission to assist youth in Indian River
County. The Mardy Fish Foundation has
opened its fifth after school program at
Citrus Elementary School.
